iQOO Neo 7 review

8.1Expert Score
Good

The new iQOO Neo 7 features a high refresh rate display, a fast processor, and support for ultra-fast charging. However, it also faces off against the incredibly reliable Nothing Phone 1 and Pixel 6a. Therefore, it is worthwhile to purchase it at an affordable rate.

Detailed Review of IQOO Neo 7

1

Detailed overview of IQOO Neo 7

The iQOO Neo 7 has several improvements over its predecessor, including a 120Hz AMOLED display, a 4nm MediaTek SoC, faster charging, and a larger battery. The phone still has three cameras, but there has been a significant reduction. This review will assist you in determining whether the iQOO Neo 7 should be your next upgrade.

Display and Design of IQOO Neo 7

The iQOO Neo 7 maintains its curved rear panel and frame in an era where many smartphones have flat frames. The phone’s polycarbonate body in no way gives off a cheap impression. Frost Blue is the color we have, and it has a matte finish that discourages smudges and fingerprints. In addition, this phone has a premium appearance thanks to the gradient that can be seen when light hits the rear panel. Also, the weight is evenly distributed. The iQOO Neo 7 has a large 6.78-inch display up front. Even though it has the same screen size as the flagship iQOO 11 5G, it supports a 120Hz refresh rate and has a full-HD+ resolution. The screen is flat, and the bezels around it are relatively thin. Overall, the iQOO Neo 7 offers a 93.11 percent screen-to-body ratio, with the chin being the thickest at 2.65mm.

Battery Life and Performance of IQOO Neo 7

Performance is always given priority in iQOO phones, and the Neo 7 is no exception. Almost anything you throw at its Dimensity 8200 SoC will be no match for it. The phone can handle all activities, including playing games and performing routine daily tasks. Users can also switch to Monster Mode in the Ultra Game control panel, which prevents the SoC from throttling and ensures peak performance for a more fluid gaming experience, though it might compromise battery life and temperature. The back of the phone beneath the camera module gets a little warm when you are playing games.

Software of IQOO Neo 7

The iQOO Neo 7 runs the most recent Funtouch OS 13 version based on Android 13 out of the box. It includes a few third-party apps, including Spotify, Byju, and Snapchat. If you would like, you can uninstall them. Hot Games and Hot Apps are two of the app recommendation folders that exist. Previously, a toggle in the Settings app could be used to make these folders invisible. There is no way to delete these two folders as Vivo moved this setting to its V-App Store, which is not accessible on the iQOO Neo 7. Having said that, Funtouch OS 13 has advanced personalization and customization. To customize animations for almost every task, including charging, fingerprint unlocking, switching between the home screen and lock screen, etc., users can delve into the Settings app. Changes can be made to the icons, wallpaper, and other UI components.

Cameras of IQOO Neo 7

While everything up to this point might have seemed to be working in the iQOO Neo 7’s favor, the camera is where it falls just a little short. There is an optical image stabilization (OIS)-capable 64-megapixel main rear camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. According to customer surveys by iQOO, the target market for this phone does not frequently use the ultra-wide camera, which is why it was completely removed from the Neo 7.
