Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Laptop review

8.7Expert Score
Awesome

The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is one of the greatest gaming laptops ever tested, demonstrating that the Legion series can compete with its more well-known counterparts. Where it falls short of the best, it still exceeds the others in its class, and its fair price makes it difficult to find a better overall value.

Detailed Review of Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Laptop

1

Overview of Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Laptop

Users should pursue the laptop if they require a gaming laptop since it is a workhorse. On the point of gaming, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is among the best. The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro’s ten-key is an excellent addition to an already excellent gaming laptop, especially if users are looking for a full-sized keyboard in a gaming laptop. If users wish to fine-tune their hardware settings on their gaming laptops, most such gaming laptop hardware controllers include some hardware modifying choices. The Legion 5 Pro does make a meaningful difference in both performances when it comes to both battery life and graphics.

Design of Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Laptop

The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is a well-built gaming laptop that does not take any chances with its design. In terms of design, the Legion 5 Pro isn’t very slim. It is not the most portable gaming laptop users will find, weighing 5.4 lbs. / 2.54kg and measuring 1.1 inches / 26.85mm thick, especially with its somewhat hefty power adaptor. The form factor does, however, allow for a full-sized keyboard, which is a bonus. The keys also have adequate travel, and the overall quality of the keyboard and track pad is comparable to that of a Lenovo laptop, which is typically outstanding. Given the dimensions of the Legion 5 Pro, Lenovo does not make many compromises in terms of ports.

Performance of Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Laptop

In terms of gaming performance, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is about as good as an RTX 3070 gaming laptop gets. Even without Lenovo Vantage hardware performance enhancement, the Legion 5 Pro exceeds the Asus Zephyrus in purely gaming efficiency – both in graphics standards and actual gaming experience. The Legion 5 Pro routinely outperformed the Asus Zephyrus G15 in 3DMark testing. The Legion 5 Pro falls short of the Zephyrus G15 in CPU performance. Furthermore, the Legion 5 Pro is less expensive than the Zephyrus, making it a better deal if users are only interested in gaming performance.

Battery Life of Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Laptop

In this regard, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro falls short of the Asus Zephyrus G15. The Legion 5 Pro’s 80WHr battery is wonderful, but the Zephyrus G15’s 90WHr battery cannot be surpassed. In the PC Mark 10 battery life test, the Legion 5 Pro only lasted six hours and 29 minutes. In the HD movie test, the Legion 5 Pro lasted six hours and 31 minutes, whereas the Zephyrus G15 lasted eight hours and 22 minutes. While it is not sure if the Legion 5 Pro has the best battery life available, it is still quite good.

6

Microphone and Webcam

The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro’s webcam is a rather conventional 720p, but it does feature one, unlike the Asus Zephyrus G15. The webcam also boasts of an e-shutter operated by a physical switch on the side, which is superior to many other laptops on the market. This is one domain where Lenovo excels, and it would be apparent if Lenovo didn’t have some manner of privacy shutter on their cameras. The laptop also has a dual array microphone for audio, so whether users are conducting a meeting through video chat or broadcasting to various streaming platforms, they will sound excellent, or as well as they can hope to be without a professional microphone setup.

7

Other Features and Associated Software

The Lenovo Vantage software is the one item users must not uninstall. However, in the instance of the Legion 5 Pro, the hardware controllers can have a significant impact on gaming performance. Switching these settings to “performance” in Lenovo Vantage, on the other hand, quickly adds thousands of points to the 3DMark Night Raid result, with similar gains across the major benchmarks. This also provides a healthy increase to the frame rate while playing games, and by healthy, they mean obvious. Games just run smoother in a manner that other systems’ “performance” options do not.
