OnePlus Nord 2T 5G review – an allrounder

8.3Expert Score
Awesome

There is something magical about the OnePlus Nord 2T. OnePlus first series days are evident in the glossy silver casing and near-sandstone texture. Powerful enough to satisfy even the most sophisticated user. Also, the software is relatively pristine. You won’t have to spend a fortune on any of this. There is, however, a downside as well with this familiar yet dreamy model. The Nord 2T does not entirely replace the Nord 2. Instead, it offers some improvements. Why wait? Let’s get into the details!

Detailed Review of OnePlus Nord 2T 5G

1

Display Specifications

6.43-inch 1080p AMOLED with a 90Hz refresh rate, just like the Nord 2. This isn’t an out-and-out gaming phone because of the 180Hz touch sampling and the fact that most games with high refresh rates are capped at 60Hz, so it isn’t a gaming phone at all.

Otherwise, the performance is smooth, fast, reliable, and agile. There is a good balance between colors and viewing angles. Due to the acceptable brightness levels, you won’t have to duck under cover in direct sunlight. The Prime Video app supports HDR10+ playback, but Netflix doesn’t. Optical fingerprint readers are included on the screen.

Design Features

As far as appearance goes, there’s not much difference to the previous version. It looks almost identical from both front and side. Dimensions and templates are the same. As for the back, OnePlus has altered the camera module to give the guise that it has more fabulous sensor updates. However, this rendition is certainly eye-catching, even if the layout is not.

A glossy gray shadow version offers the same visual intrigue. While its rear mimics the original OnePlus One’s textured surface, it’s softer and slicker. It is, however, more elegant. Moreover, it is well resistant to fingerprints and smudges. With its glossy back panel, OnePlus also offers the phone in Jade Fog.

Nord 2T measures 8.2mm and weighs 190g. There is no doubt that this is a solid phone, even though it isn’t massive in size. It has nearly all the ingredients barring an IP rating – to rival some of OnePlus’ higher-end, expensive phones. Perhaps the profuse help of glass made of Corning Gorilla plays a role.

3

Features Battery

It has good battery life. The Nord 2 T’s 4,500mAh battery can last a full day for casual users, similar to the Nord 2. With the bundled charger, you can charge it up from 0-100% in 32 minutes as opposed to 65W in the Nord 2.

4

Performance

A new Dimensity 1300 chip powers the Nord 2T. HyperEngine 5.0 is essentially a Dimensity 1200 with gaming-oriented enhancements. There is no change in CPU/GPU/clock speeds.

A problem with such a strategy is that the benefits are rarely measurable or even tangible. Both phones have fast LPDDR4X RAM and UFS3.1 storage (up to 256GB).

Even though it runs more aggressively than the Nord 2, it doesn’t make the Nord 2T a weaker device. Performance isn’t sacrificed, though. You’d only notice lag when you’re playing a graphically pressing game. Otherwise, a steady, efficient, and speedy performer it is.

5

Software

There are still several advantages to picking the Nord 2T. It runs OxygenOS 12.1, and Android 12 gets significant OS updates twice a year for up to three years. 5G bands are also supported. Thus, the Nord 2T is more future-proof. It’s smooth and fluid, without ads or junk notifications. No odd bugs were found during testing. However, some features, such as the OnePlus Shelf and Scout, and Work Life Balance, can be helpful.

6

Camera

As with the Nord 2, the Nord 2T has a triple camera setup (50MP main f/1.8 with OIS, 8MP f/2.2 120-degree ultrawide, and 2MP mono) on the back, as well as a 32MP selfie camera. A little tuning would be expected from OnePlus. Also, the phone has a 960 fps slow motion mode. Overall, the Nord 2 T does not offer much difference from the Nord 2.

Despite good color, contrast, and detail, Nord 2T’s stabilizer could be improved. The primary sensor delivers decent results in details, colors, or dynamic range in good light, but HDR could be better. Low-light performance is also promising. Ultrawide takes warmer photos by default regardless of lighting conditions. It records 4K@30fps videos (1080p@30fps with ultrawide). Nothing but a filler, 2MP monochrome

So, is it a yes or no for OnePlus Nord 2T 5G?

Having access to newer technology can be a nice thing for consumers. At launch, the Nord 2T was cheaper than the Nord 2. India pricing starts at Rs 28,999 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. While the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage cost Rs 33,999. This phone is an excellent choice if you’ve been considering a smartphone for around Rs 30,000. Oh! That’s a steal deal.

If you are looking for a budget phone with all the latest features then this is the ideal one to purchase
