Razer Kaira Pro for PlayStation review

8.1Expert Score
Awesome

Razer’s foray into the top end of PS5 wireless headphones is the Kaira Pro. On PS5 and PS4, it works like magic and the quality of sound is amazing. The haptics are fantastic, and it nearly feels like you’re wearing a new-gen headset despite playing on the PS4. PC gamers could look to Razer’s freshly updated Kraken V3 line for something even more tailored to their demands. The gaming headset is not cheap by any measure, but it’s currently the best-tailored wireless gaming headset for PS5.

Detailed Review of Razer Kaira Pro for PlayStation

1

Overview of Razer Kaira Pro

The Razer Kaira Pro is a strong headset, with several higher-end functionalities and some enjoyable novelties like haptic feedback that set it apart from its rivals. It’s not cheap, either, and it costs more than many of the finest wireless gaming headphones. The headset’s excellent build quality and novel features, such as the aforementioned HyperSense haptics, contribute significantly to its expensive price.

The Razer Kaira Pro has a beautiful white-on-black look that matches its PS5 and PS4 in terms of looks. It’s worth mentioning that the headset can be connected to a PC, so users are not confined to utilizing it only with Sony’s PlayStations.

The headset has light RGB features on display. When the headset is turned on, the Razor logo on either side of the headset illuminates. These logos flicker over a wide range of colors. The effect is lovely but is a little muted, and users won’t notice the colors when using the headset.

The headset has an astonishingly comfortable pair of headphones, due to the ear cushions consisting of velvety leatherette and cooling fabric. The headband is auto-adjusting, comfortable, and effective. The headphones are padded with soft foam for additional comfort. The headphones boast of crystal clear sound which isn’t exactly new. The differentiating factor here is that the headset performs on a dynamic range of selections.

Design and display

  • Outstanding construction quality
  • Extremely comfortable
  • Easily identifiable buttons on touch.

The Razer Kaira Pro design has very few issues regarding the design. The company has not compromised on the materials in building it, resulting in excellent quality. This is one of the important reasons why the headset is expensive. At first look, the headset bears an appealing white-on-black design reminiscent of its intended console: the PS5. The headset is fantastic to wear with the headband lined with soft cushioned foam that lays softly on the head.

Features

  • Battery life – 50 hours
  • Gimmicky and nice Haptics

On switching the Razer Kaira headset, the first thing users notice is the RGB lights on the exterior of both cups. The insignia pulses over the whole RGB spectrum. Pressing the power button for a long time on the left cup turns the headset on. This is followed by a brief vibration from the headset’s haptics with an onboard voice informing the users that it has been turned on. On the left cup, a mute switch is present for the microphone along with a Bluetooth to 2.4GHz toggle. This comes along with a haptic strength adjustment.

The headset has a USB-C charging port, a 3.5mm jack for the mic that can be detached when necessary, and two wheels for volume and side tone adjustment. The headset is connected wirelessly through a time USB-C dongle, and as long as the user is in range they can be connected to up to four devices. One of the most enticing features of the headset is the HyperSense haptic feedback. The sense vibrates along with the beat while listening to music and has the habit of kicking in during singing or speaking. The downside is that the Haptics drain the battery faster than if switched off.

Sound Quality

  • Poor quality microphone
  • Excellent for music
  • The Game audio is detailed

In general, the audio quality of the Razer Kaira Pro is excellent. Musically, the headset delivers a rich and clean soundscape that emphasizes instrument-heavy tunes with remarkable clarity. While the in-game performance is excellent. The headset makes excellent use of the vast dynamic range choices.

The Razer Kaira Pro is also an excellent choice for multiplayer gaming due to its excellent directional audio pickup. While the audio quality is excellent overall, the headset falls short in one critical area: microphone quality. This was highlighted during testing, as receivers commented about the Kaira Pro’s poor audio quality.

The Kaira Pro Headset makes headway over to the Sony side of the console headset turf.
