Overview of Garmin Instinct 2
As it charges via solar , thus if taken outdoors on regular then you will never run out of battery. The breadcrumb mapping and basic navigation works fine. But you will not have music storage, topo maps or display screen with colored markings, as this smartwatch isn’t trying all these areas. It is an ideal smartwatch who wants functionality over others.
Garmin Instinct 2 is a solar smartwatch. The Garmin instinct 2 was released in March of 2022 it comes under its instinct line of smartwatch which are solar powered. Lets us look at the detailed review here
Design and display
The Garmin Instinct 2 design is very similar to that of Casio Gshock design. Unlike many smart watches it does not have touchscreen with colored display instead the new Garmin instrict comes with monochromatic display with physical buttons to support its look and ruggedness. Thai was specially done keeping in mind its outdoorsy feel.
The buttons on the left work for making light on and the right side two buttons are for selection and or reverting back. The monochrome display works quite well under the sun’s brightness, and can be clearly seen without any hassle even under
scorching sun. But the Garmin Instinct 2 does not work well indoors. This is upsetting as one has repeatedly pressed the button to see the figures and display is subpar too. The solar charging module is placed just underneath the display which gives good prominence to get solar charged.
In terms of customization, the watch does not have many functions, although in its limited capabilities, one can change the watch faces and widgets to see the data you need to track.
Built Quality
One of the strongest points of Garmin Instinct 2 is one of the toughest and durable smartwatches that can be used for outdoor activities. The watch is water resistant and Garmin claims that the watch is shock proof too, as they have tested under US military standards. But, when tested in reality, many did complain of scratches in its outer cover. But all in whole the watch stands for its toughness to its very limits.
Fitness tracking
The Garmin Instinct 2 is power packed with over 30 types of modes for sports and tracking. The tracking sensors in the smartwatch are pretty good and can be held as accurate assessments too. You can get the detailed modes and their tracking types from the official Garmin page. That said the watch now comes with an oxygen absorption tracker too which means how much oxygen is consumed during a particular exercise it can track. The steps and sleep monitor are pretty accurate as heard from many. Along with these the usual of heart rate, steps tracker, ovulation tracker, menstruation cycle tracking all are present. If the person using the smartwatch is geeky or is hungry for data then will be surely impressed by the level of detailed data representation it shows in its tracking charts.
Pairing app performance
The Garmin smartwatch comes with Garmin connect which when paired will show the tracking data of the fitness, healthcare and much more. The app can also track and inform how much sub exposure the person is , this is new and an interesting function considering the watch gets charged under solar. The company is tied up with various fitness clubs as a result the workout programs are intensive , but the quality of life factor is missing to a large extent for the price one pays.
