Detailed Review of Moto G4 Plus
Overview of Moto G4 Plus
The Moto G4 plus priced at Rs 13,499 can be very promising buy. It has good performance, runs on android stock, has a fingerprint scanner and great display for the price it sells. But its battery life is very mediocre and the camera performance is not up to the expectations. The built-in quality too can be a topic too for many to get let down as it has full plastic body.
The Moto G4 is one of two smartphones that is launched by Motorola under G range. The Motorola company that is owned by Lenovo, for the first time launched two smartphones under same range. To compare with Motorola G4 and G4 plus, the later has more features compared to the earlier with finger print scanner, dual LED flash, bigger camera with 16 megapixels has laser auto focus.
Let’s us now check in details to see if Motorola G4 plus can be the ideal purchase material for you:
Design aspect of Moto G4 Plus
The smart phone comes with plastic back and glass front. It has a silver finish on the sides. The body of Motorola G4 plus is fully plastic. The back side of the mobile is removable and also tends to bend when pressed. The phone when handheld does not have a feel-good factor.
But the positive as impact of being full plastic body is that it is highly durable and can withstand drops and bumps easily. When tested by many reviewers it was seen that the phone was able to withstand drop without even single bump or bruise.
The finger print scanner of Motorola G4 plus is unique in this segment. Although it has fingerprint scanner but it has not used the front bezel button for home screen. This comes as a shocker to many. To access the home screen, back or even recent apps the G4plus uses capacitive buttons. This is a bit setback for many, as people will get confused and will take time get adaptive to this functionality. But the one take away point is the fingerprint scanner which adds armor to it. This also indicates that in future budget phones will make this function a default one.
The sleek body type of this new Motorola G4 is also a point of highlight. Previously the smartphones from Motorola under G series were bulky and sluggish, but with 7.7mm thickness and weighs only 154 grams this smart phone is sure to make heads turn.
The Motorola G4 plus comes with 1 micro-USB 2.0 port slot at the bottom, volume keys at the left side, a headphone jack for audio on top and 13megapixels back camera with two LED flash light. The smart phone also houses a secondary microphone with noise cancelling feature and selfie camera with 5 megapixels, proximity sensors.
The keys of volume and power a bit on the disappointment side. The position of the keys is so close to each other that often-wrong keys get pressed. The only difference is the power key is bit textured which helps. The external speaker added with the smartphone is quite loud, but not so crisp and clear even breaks in bass. The earphone is still better wherein calls made and received can be clearly audible without much distraction.
The usb type C port is not present which is good and bad. Good in a way as it is not widely used so not having it will not have that of an impact, while bad because it confirms that the mobile is not future ready. With microUSB one can charge with similar adapters without being in the hustle to find the right pairing accessories.
Display analysis of Moto G4 Plus
The display of Moto G4 comes with full HD, which is new to its lineage. The previous models all had 720p panels. The smart phone comes with 5.5 cinch display screen with 440 ppi pixel density. This is huge uplift from its previous models. The smart phone comes Gorilla glass 3 which gives good protection for the screen. To speak about the brightness, the display does more than it expected it performs quiet up to mark. In the age of QHD displays this 1080p display is quite good and can be clearly seen from all angles without having issue of readability.
The sun light legibility test is decent, though black is not so dark, but for the price we pay for the smart phone, it pretty good and one should not have nay complains around it.
Hardware specifications of Moto G4
It comes with 1.5GHz snapdragon 617 processor. The G4 plus has 2GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. It also comes with another variant of 3GB ram and 32GB internal storage. The internal memory can be extended up to 200Gb with help of microSD CARD. The smart phone comes with 3000 mAh with is quiet a compliment in its kitty. The smart phone is said to power in 15 minutes to work for 6 hours.
Moto G4 plus performance
This phone is packed with useful elements to make work on your fingertips. The phone can handle daily tasks as well as casual affairs like browsing, clicking photos, shooting videos without and lagging or shutters.
617 snapdragon inclusion is big boost in performance over the 400-snapdragon series that was present in the earlier phones which make the daily tasks without any delay.
Camera quality of Motorola G4 Plus
The smart phone comes 16 megapixels with auto focus and the selfie camera with 5 megapixels. The Motorola claims that the phone comes with good low light capability and brightness, it further said that low light can be compared to the best iPhones and competitors. While the camera does a decent job, but nothing which makes it stands out. The Motorola have a;ways fallen short of their camera features. Here too they seem to be way behind and cannot match up to the huge expectations they have set.
Nonetheless, Motorola (and Lenovo) should be congratulated on what they’ve achieved here. It’s a very good Android phone at a very affordable price.
